Treating And Preventing Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids, or piles as they are commonly known, are the inflamed and swollen veins around the anus or the lower part of the rectum. Hemorrhoids may result from inordinate straining to pass out stool. Pregnancy, constipation or diarrhea, anal intercourse, and aging also may lead to the formation of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids can be external or internal. It is easy to confuse other anorectal problems like fissures, fistula, or abscesses with hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are not life threatening and the symptoms usually go away after a few days.

Symptoms:

Though many people have hemorrhoids, only a few experience the symptoms.

Internal hemorrhoids

These can neither be seen nor felt. But when a person strains to pass stool, the delicate surface of the hemorrhoid may get injured and this may cause it to bleed. Internal anal membranes do not have pain-sensitive nerve fibers, so the hemorrhoids do not cause discomfort. If an internal hemorrhoid is pushed through the anal opening due to straining, it can lead to pain and irritation.

External hemorrhoids

These are the painful hemorrhoids. If blood pools in the external hemorrhoid, it is called a thrombus. This forms a clot and causes severe pain, inflammation and swelling. If this hemorrhoid is disturbed, it can cause bleeding and itching.

Hemorrhoids are an embarrassing problem for many, but it is also very common among both men and women. More than half the population suffers from this problem by the time they reach 50. Hemorrhoids are common among pregnant women.

Causes:

Increased pressure in the veins of the lower rectum is what leads to hemorrhoids. Pressure is often applied due to:

-Constipation and the accompanying strain to release stool
-Continuous expulsion of loose stools through diarrhea
-Heavy lifting
-Standing or sitting for a long time
-Pregnancy and childbirth
-Heredity

Diagnosis:

Rectal bleeding is the most common indication of internal hemorrhoids. But, rectal bleeding may also be a symptom of digestive diseases. The doctor will examine the area for swollen blood vessels, which indicate hemorrhoids. If rectal bleeding is accompanied by dizziness, light-headedness or fainting, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
External hemorrhoids may be detected just by looking. To ascertain the presence of an internal hemorrhoid, the doctor may need to do a colonoscope, anoscope or sigmoidoscoope.

Treatment:

The first phase of the treatment aims at relieving symptoms. Taking a warm tub bath several times a day in mild, warm water for about 10 minutes is effective. Some hemorrhoidal cream applied to the affected area also helps.

Persistent bleeding and painful hemorrhoids may need more intricate treatment. Common procedures include Banding, Sclerotherapy, applying Infrared light, and lastly, surgery.

Prevention:

-Eat food rich in fiber. This will soften the stool and make it bulky, thus facilitating easy passage.
-Drink lots of water: This also eases and quickens bowel movements.
-Fiber supplements: Fiber supplements can help. Supplements should be taken with plenty of water. Otherwise, constipation results.
-Exercising regularly can help increase the blood circulation and also helps to lose weight.
-Avoid standing or sitting for long periods as this increases pressure on the veins.
-Use the bathroom as soon as you feel the urge, otherwise stools become hard and difficult to pass.

Self-care is the best care if your hemorrhoids are in the early stages. You can alleviate pain and discomfort by:

-Using topical treatments like creams
-Keeping the anal area completely neat
-Soaking regularly in warm water helps relieve pain.
-Applying ice packs or cold compresses to reduce swelling and relieve pain.
-Gently pushing a prolapsed hemorrhoid back into the anal canal.
-Using wet toilet paper to prevent friction.

  2. I had a friend who's suffering from Hemorrhoids for almost a year. She is a mother of 5 years old baby boy. I visited her one day and while we're chatting i seemed her so conscious sitting on the couch and ask her whats the matter. At first she's embarrassed to talk about it but eventually she shares it to me. We went to my personal doctor and ask whats the best way to eliminate her hemorrhoids without surgery. She suggested Proctozone HC Cream and she's using it for a month and noticed an improvement.

  5. It's 4:30am....my baby and fiance are sleeping..and I'm sitting in the Damn tub unable to fall asleep in bed because of the discomfort and pain I'm in. I'm 8 weeks post partum. I had the hemorrhoid really big and nasty before I have birth. About 2 weeks before delivery it shrunk down so little I had no pain at all. 2 weeks after delivery it spiked up again and I did the same thing. Tub at like 3am just so I can fall asleep. It went away in like 2 days. Going #2 was so painful I felt like throwing up those 2 days. I feel like going to the bathroom did help release a lot of pressure. This time I went #2 before bed and it was slightly painful (hard poop) I've been constipated for 3 days. Now I can't sleep. I've been tossing and turning since 10pm. On and off hot and cold trying every position. Put prep h on and antibacterial cream for cuts, trying to pass gas which feels wonderful right after but then the pain returns. So now I'm in the bath hoping my 8 week old doesn't wake up because it's my turn to get to her. I can't keep doing this when I need to tend to her. My hem is not nearly as big as it has been or round. Its sort of flat and floppy I don't feel any clots at all. Hoping this will go away by tomorrow. I'm going to buy stool softeners and really try to improve my diet. I have had a federal stent for the past 4 months and just now am recovering from all that nonsense but I've had to drop a lot from my diet already to help my kidneys so this will be super hard. But I need to do it. Ice doesn't help, neither does heat. A bath is just enough so I can sleep. Watch me get to sleep and she'll wake up after 10 minutes. That will be my luck :(

  6. I've never had hemorhoids in my 31 years of life but about 4 weeks afteR I birthed our baby boy vaginally, I came to know hemorrhoids. The come and go intermittently ; I'm 9 months post Partin and probably have had flares 4 times now. . Sitz baths with Epsom salt, coconut oil on toilet paper for wiping, prep h as needed have been helpful ( in that order). I'm breastfeeding so I eat a lot of things I used to not just so I can get in my calories ( as I am 13 lbs lighter than even when I got pregnant). So I am vowing to get back to more of my green veggies, fresh fruits( especially pineapple and apple), chicken and sweet potatoes to add fiber . I also find it hard to care for myself sometimes, as a mother, so I am coding to everyday do 50-100 squats, keels and brisk walk a few times a week just to help strengthen my pelvic floor . I know it's weak bc I still get sore deep at my lower pelvis.

  12. Having hemorrhoids, were serious and that no medication would improve matters. I was diagnosed with internal / external thrombosed hemorrhoid and two anal fissures, one on the back and one on the front. I got these from taking left over percocets and then pooping bowling balls. I started taking Zoloft. I like it, it makes me less anxious, I do a lot to keep my bowels soft and to prevent constipation. I drink A LOT of water during the day but all spread out through out the day. I spent every minute in the bathroom going between the tub and the toilette. I’d force it out in excruciating pain.

Most people are embarrassed to share that their butthole hurts, I was for a very long time. But, by keeping it to myself it only made me worry and scared – and if I was going to live with this condition for the rest of my life, that is not how I want to be… worried and scared. I was opted for surgery which Doctor told me is the only solution. He was so casual about it and said it was definitely the way to go for a permanent solution. I was very nervous and have never had a surgery before.
I asked him about the pain of recovery, and he just said “you are already in a lot of pain”. I always believed there must be an natural solution to my predicament, I finally got steered in the right direction and saw a post about Justin herbal medication, everything started to get easier from the point I started taking Justin Herbal Medicine.I felt a moment of relief hoping that, I am free from this ailment, and I remind myself how lucky to come across Lance Justin's herbal medicine which is able to control my disease. I promised myself that I would stay strong and not sneak food that would cause me any harm again. The only thing I wanted was to feel better. I’m proud to say I am hemorrhoids disease free.
